Do you want to make 2015 the Healthiest Year you have ever had in Highlands Ranch? It is the time of year for new Goals and New Year’s resolutions. A lot of these are centered on losing weight, eating healthier, quitting smoking, etc. Sometimes we make it so complicated that we never reach our goal. Sometimes it is just thoughts or words that never come to fruition. Do you really have what it takes to lose those 20 pounds or are you motivated to keep on going to the gym after January 15th? Is this a year goal or a just a 2 week goal? I am going to simplify your Health goals down to a 5 key things that will help you feel better, lose weight, sleep better, be happier with yourself and look better in the mirror. If you do just these 5 key things I am going to mention, all your health goals will come true in 2015. Of course, you have to do them all year, not just the first couple weeks of January.

1. Quit eating wheat and processed sugar. This is the #1 most important step you can do in 2015. This alone will change your whole physiology and help you reach every health goal you have set. It sounds easy, but it is difficult in this day and age because wheat and processed sugars are in just about everything. You have to read labels and make sure you are eating REAL food, not processed crap.

2. No more dairy. That goes for cheese, yogurts, added milk to your morning coffee, etc. There are some great alternatives such as coconut milk and almond milk. Experiment with these healthy non-dairy options and this step should be a breeze.

3. Eat more FAT. Good fat that is. Such as olives, olive oil, coconuts, avocados, eggs, and healthy organic meats/fish. These fats are essential for your health and we have quit eating them assuming they are bad for us. You cannot be completely healthy without good fats in your diet.

4. Forget the long distance training and start doing interval burst training and resistance training. Your body will thank you in just a couple months. Your workouts will be shorter giving you more time in your day for other activities.

5. Supplement with a high quality Vitamin D and fish oil every day. Almost all of us are low in these 2 key nutrients. Your body needs the right fuel to perform properly and without vitamin D and fish oil, you will never reach your optimal health.

That’s it. Just these 5 steps and you will be on your way to your best year ever. It does take discipline and commitment. In our busy lives, we are always trying to catch an easy, quick meal, but you must stay committed to grab the healthy option. You must plan and find the 20 to 30 minutes each day to exercise. We all can do it. It is just a choice we have to make and commit to.

Don’t wait until there is some sort of health scare that motivates you. Start now and make sure that health scare never comes. Commit with your spouse, your kids or a friend. It will be easier and you will get more satisfaction when accomplishing your goals with a loved-one.
