Highlands Ranch Extremity Chiropractor

Chiropractic Treatment for Carpal Tunnel

A lot of people are under the impression that chiropractors only treat the spine and spine related injuries. There are many chiropractors who have only been trained to adjust the spine, but other chiropractors have taken special training to adjust extremities as well. I take great pride in my continued education in this specialty of chiropractic. Some chiropractors call it sports medicine or sports injury adjusting, but it goes way beyond athletes.

Your extremities are basically any joint in your body that isn’t your spine or neck. These include your shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, hips, knees and ankle joints. We can also classify your ribs and your TMJ as extremity joints as well. Being a former college basketball player, I had many ankle and knee strains and sprains during my playing days. Without my personal extremity chiropractor, I would not have been able to play as long as I did and this is one of the main reasons I am a chiropractor today. Chiropractic extremity adjusting can help out so many different kinds of conditions and a lot of your back and neck pain that keeps coming back can be due to misaligned joints in your feet, ankles and knees. As I was going through very specific chiropractic training, I realized it was imperative to treat the whole body, not just the part that was hurting. So if someone comes in with back pain, we will also take a look at their knees and ankles to make sure everything is properly aligned so you can function and feel your best.

Different types of extremity problems that walk into our office every day include:

  • Runner’s knee
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ankle sprains
  • Golfers elbow
  • Tennis elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Knee meniscus issues
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Rotator cuff impingement

All of these types of injuries can be easily treated through chiropractic care. These injuries can happen in anyone, not just those who play sports. You do not have to be a runner to get plantar fasciitis. Sometimes the arch in your foot can collapse due to wearing high heels or dress shoes and you may get plantar fasciitis. You can also sprain your knee or ankle just by walking down the stairs. That is why I like to call this specialty in chiropractic “extremity adjusting” as opposed to “sports medicine” because these types of injuries and symptoms can happen to anyone.

Other types of treatments we use for these types of injuries in Laser therapy. Cold Laser is very simple and easy to use on the extremity joints and can get you feeling and performing much quicker than we use to able to get you back on the field. We can also use ice or heat before and after chiropractic treatments. For rehab, we use a powerplate to stimulate your core-stabilizing muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Chiropractic care is not just for the spine and neck. We can help all the joints and limbs of your body. Whether you have a sports related injury or just want your extremities to fell better and be more mobile, a chiropractor with specialized extremity training can work wonders for you.
