Improve your Posture for decreased back pain in Highlands Ranch, CO

Chiropractors talk about the Sitting Epidemic

People always wonder “why did I get this pain or where did this pain come from.” This is such a loaded question as there are many factors in regards to back pain. It is usually never just one main factor that caused you to wake up with neck pain or back pain today. Unless it was a major incident like a car accident or a fall down a flight of stairs, your back pain is most likely caused by a variety of reasons. One of the major factors is posture. In the computer era that we live in, we need to make sure we are focusing on our posture every day in order to limit neck pain and back pain. Too much sitting can and will cause you to slouch throughout the course of the day. If you have a desk job, make sure your workstation is ergonomically favorable by keeping you in an upright position. Even more important than that, set a timer on your computer every 30 minutes and make sure you get up and stretch your legs out for one minute every 30 minutes. We all need more movement during the day and this one easy step will limit your back pain and keep your posture upright. Another factor that can help with chronic back pain is strengthening your core. The best way to do this is through yoga exercises and poses. Being seated all day will actually atrophy your core muscle (the use it or lose it mentality.) Doing yoga just once or twice a week will give your core spinal muscles the workout they need in order to keep back pain and tension away. Having tight core spinal muscles will also ensure that your chiropractic adjustments are more effective and the adjustments will actually hold longer and keep you in alignment longer.

The bottom line is that the human body was never meant to sit all day and stare a computer, TV, or smart-phone. The human body was meant to be moving. Through a combination of chiropractic adjustments, good posture, good core exercises, and staying at an ideal weight – We will be able to keep chronic back and neck pain at a minimum and keep you enjoying an active lifestyle in Highlands Ranch for years to come.
